INTRALIFT™ IN DÜSSELDORF (KAISERSWERTH)

The Intralift™ is a newly developed surgical procedure designed to address missing bone substance in the upper jaw.

In the upper jaw, prolonged edentulism in the posterior region can lead to significant resorption of the alveolar ridge, resulting in insufficient bone height under the maxillary sinus to support implants. In this case, bone augmentation is required, commonly known as a sinus lift. The maxillary sinus mucosa is lifted, and bone replacement material is placed into the newly created cavity. Implants can be inserted either simultaneously or after a healing period of 4-6 months.

The conventional method (open sinus lift, modified according to Tatum) involves creating a window in the lateral wall of the maxillary sinus and detaching the maxillary sinus mucosa from the floor and walls of the sinus using hand instruments. This method can lead to relatively high surgical trauma for the patient and is typically associated with significant swelling, often accompanied by pain and bruising (hematoma) of the cheek.

The Intralift™ procedure eliminates the use of rotating instruments, which pose an elevated risk of damaging soft tissue, and instead employs high frequency vibrating instruments, significantly reducing the risk of harm to sensitive structures.

The Intralift™ procedure also eliminates the need for a lateral maxillary sinus window, thereby minimising post-operative discomfort. Swelling and pain are extremely rare with this technique. By preserving the bony structures and using a "keyhole surgery" technique, similar to modern knee operations without large incisions, the bone can form more quickly, allowing for immediate implant placement in many cases. Any amount of bone can be completely restored with this procedure by your dentist in Düsseldorf (Kaiserswerth). With this method, we completely avoid using the patient's own bone.

The precise instruments, the small instrument size (approximately 3 mm), and the fact that the ultrasound frequency stimulates new bone formation (according to a study by the University of North Carolina, Dr Nares) make the Intralift™ procedure safe and nearly comfortable for the patient, with a high chance of success. The Intralift™ procedure is patented, used worldwide, and has the potential to replace the conventional "open" sinus lift method.

Numerous professional articles, book contributions, and scientific studies in renowned journals such as the JOMS (Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) are available.
